About the role
Alsys is a family-run business based in Leiden. Since 1998, the organisation has been developing and manufacturing modular laboratory robots for sample preparation and integrated analysis, for laboratories in the fertiliser, minerals, chemicals and oil sectors. These robots operate continuously, even when no one is present in the laboratory. The control cabinet is the key component that ensures this can be done reliably for years on end, without the need for an operator. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for these control cabinets. You will design, build and test them for both platforms β the High-Performance Robot and the Compact Robot β and monitor quality right through to handover. The role involves short lines of communication: direct contact with engineering, work planning and production, without any intermediate layers.
What you'll do
- Create electrical designs for control cabinets, from schematic (EPLAN or equivalent) to parts list
- Design single-phase and three-phase power circuits, DC power supplies, servo and stepper motor control, I/O, sensors and safety circuits
- Build, wire and test cabinets alongside production
- Further develop existing cabinet designs for new robot modules and customer configurations
- Participate in risk assessments and define functional safety requirements
- Collaborate with engineering on motor control, sensor integration and safety circuits
- Ensure designs comply with CE, the Machinery Directive and relevant NEN-EN-IEC standards
- Contribute to standardization so cabinets can be built faster and more consistently as we scale
- Deliver technical documentation ready for production, service and customer use
- Where necessary, be involved in installation and commissioning at customer sites, including internationally

- xperience with machine building for laboratories or process industry
- Troubleshooting and working with diagnostic equipment
